Genealogy and Research
Genealogy
The Historical Society’s archives feature a significant collection of family papers, church records, diaries, cemetery inscriptions and more for people tracing their roots in Middlesex County . A small donation is asked from visitors who use the materials. Appointments are necessary and available Tuesday through Thursday only.

The Historical Society has limited resources for conducting searches for long-distance patrons. We require a $15 donation for the first hour of research, $10 for each additional hour, $.25 per photocopy and postage charges as needed.  Requests may take eight-to-ten weeks to process.

Research
Qualified researchers may utilize the Historical Society’s extensive collection pertaining to Middletown and other Middlesex County communities. Highlights include the Milo Wilcox Collection of local African-American history, early town records, maps, diaries, letters, account books and thousands of photographs. Other objects from the museum collection are available for research as well. Appointments, Tuesday through Thursday only, are required.
