Big Snows in Middletown - 2011 v. 1888

2011 has certainly gotten off to a flying start!  We've been hit by one snow/sleet/freezing rain/ice storm after another, with little chance to dig out before the next one hits.  This year will certainly go down in Middletown history as the Year of the Big Snows.

But Middletown has been hit with big snows before.  Consider the Great Blizzard of 1888, which lasted from March 11-14 that year with snowfalls from 40-50 inches in Connecticut. (Click here for the Wikipedia entry on the blizzard.)  Here are a few pictures of Middletown after the 1888 storm:

Send us your snow pictures!  We will put selected pictures on our website to document Middletown's Year of the Big Snows!  Email your JPEG to mchs@wesleyan.edu.
